The Office Coordinator/Medical Assistant participates in data collection, planning, and implementation of patient care.
JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Medical Assistant Functions Performs clinical procedures within scope of practice.
Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
Follows treatment plan as directed by the Clinical Coordinator, CRNP and Physicians.
Communicates new orders, change in patient's condition, and unit concerns with unit based team.
Reports patient's status, refers problems when necessary and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes or less than optimal outcomes.
Creates and maintains patients' medical charts.
Organizes and maintains chart in filing system, prepares and completes medical charts to include lab reports, physician's notes and other patient data.
Reviews chart for accuracy and completeness.
Copies and delivers appropriate records from chart when necessary for physician consults.
Provides faxed patient information to hospital departments and physicians as requested.
Extracts data from the medical record and records as directed.
Obtains patient results and reports and attaches them to appropriate EMR for physician review.
Transcribes orders, resheets charts, and schedules tests/ procedures.
Schedules patient appointments to include intake information, obtain pertinent information regarding patient's diagnosis, previous history, x-rays, medical reports for office appointment.
Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service.
Participates in ASC's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences.
Accepts responsibility for providing safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
Restocks pharmacy supplies and unit supplies are needed.
Registers patients and bills for services.
Takes active role in QA/QI.
Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs.
Assists in training new staff and coverage as needed at other Community Health sites.
Leads weekly team meetings prior to HIV Clinic.
Office Coordinator Functions Troubleshoot any problems that arise in the day-to-day functioning of the office.
Distributes correspondence to individuals designated in a timely manner and maintains files of correspondence and related materials.
Screens telephone calls and visitors, and sorts incoming and interdepartmental mail.
Anticipates and participates in identifying departmental needs and supporting goals and objectives that contribute to the growth of the department.
Provides clerical and other support services as necessary to help manage the office efficiently.
Inventories and orders office and medical supplies.
Coordinates servicing of office equipment.
Maintains physician and patient office schedules.
Monitors flow of clinical activity for optimum productivity.
Handles all scheduling difficulties or special requests in a timely manner.
Responds to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.
Acts to constantly improve the level of clinical and non-clinical outcomes and level of customer satisfaction.
Demonstrates concern for meeting or exceeding internal and external customers' expectations/requirements.
Makes decisions and judgments in preventing, analyzing and resolving patient care issues or other problems.
Generates creative and valuable ideas and uses them to develop new or improved processes or services.
Accomplishes tasks through working effectively with others and appreciating the value and commitment of every staff member.
Sends monthly Primary Care and Infectious Disease visit logs to supervisor.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sit up to 2 hours per day; 1 hour at a time.
Stands for up to 10 hours per day; 8 hours at a time.
Walk 6 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time.
Consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 lbs.
Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs.
Transports patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher.
Frequently stoop and bend.
Frequently reach above shoulder level.
Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch.
Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequencies.
Must be able to see as relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GE.
Graduate of an accredited MA program preferred or clinical experience.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Experience with medical terminology and prior experience working in a medical office.
